Terms of Service
Last updated: August 11, 2026
1. Acceptance
By using SINK, currently operated by Dashon Howard, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. The Service
SINK provides time-coded public and private discussions for movies, shows, selected live sports pilots, and invite-only, organizer-run film screenings. It includes supported-player sync, fingerprint and manual sync tools, game-clock calibration, discovery, feedback, and moderation features.
SINK does not stream or redistribute an organizer's film to screening attendees. For an authorized Hosted Screening, SINK may temporarily store and process source media solely to create version-specific synchronization artifacts and other features the organizer enables, then delete the source under the disclosed retention policy. Outside that workflow, viewers are responsible for lawful access through their own provider. SINK is not affiliated with or endorsed by streaming services, leagues, teams, studios, IMDb, TMDB, or broadcasters unless explicitly stated.
3. Accounts and Acceptable Use
- You must be at least 13 and provide accurate account information.
- You are responsible for account security and activity under your account.
- Do not post illegal, infringing, abusive, deceptive, sexually exploitative, hateful, threatening, or privacy-invasive content.
- Do not interfere with the Service, bypass access controls or DRM, scrape at scale, impersonate others, or use SINK to distribute copyrighted media you do not control.
4. User Content and Moderation
You retain ownership of content you submit. For public comments, reactions, profile material, and other public user content, you grant SINK a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, reproduce, display, distribute, and moderate that material only as needed to operate and communicate the Service. You represent that you have the required rights. We may remove content, limit reach, suspend accounts, preserve evidence, or report conduct when reasonably necessary for safety, law, or enforcement of these Terms.
Accepted public fingerprint measurements
You retain any rights you have in material you lawfully access and in your contribution. When you affirmatively opt in and SINK accepts derived fingerprint measurements into the public synchronization catalog, you grant SINK a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive license to retain, combine, reproduce, adapt, and use those accepted, de-identified technical measurements to operate, secure, evaluate, and improve the shared catalog. You may disable future contribution and permanently remove your account association; accepted measurements may remain under random per-title/variant identifiers with no retained account mapping. This grant does not transfer ownership of, or license SINK to store, distribute, perform, or otherwise exploit, the underlying source audio or video. Private partner source assets and exact-cut fingerprints are outside this public contribution license and remain governed by the applicable project agreement and revocable authorization.
5. Confidential Screening Assets
A project owner retains all ownership in its films, audio, scripts, captions, production materials, metadata, and screening feedback. The owner grants SINK a limited, non-exclusive, revocable right to store, transform, and process those confidential assets only to provide the owner-selected screening features, security, support, and legal compliance. This license does not permit SINK to promote the project, make the work public, train a general-purpose model, or sell the assets or individual feedback. SINK does not claim ownership of version fingerprints or private knowledge indexes.
The organizer must have authority from the rightsholder to upload and process every asset, identify authorized purposes accurately, notify attendees as required, and keep account access current. Do not upload pirated material, unlawfully obtained screeners, DRM-circumvented files, confidential material you are not authorized to process, or content whose processing would violate another agreement. IMDb or TMDB linkage never publishes a private project automatically.
6. Copyright
SINK responds to valid copyright notices and may terminate repeat infringers. See the DMCA page for notice instructions.
7. Pilot Service and Purchases
SINK and Hosted Screenings are beta or pilot services, and features, compatibility, processing times, limits, or availability may change. Pilot access may be complimentary or manually invoiced under a separate order or pilot agreement. Before any self-service purchase, SINK will show the price, included usage, overages, taxes, renewal or expiration, cancellation, and refund terms. Public pricing hypotheses in product materials are not offers. Nothing on this site constitutes an offer of equity or investment.
8. Events, Access, and Feedback
Organizers control invitations, capacity, confidentiality notices, moderators, and whether feedback is identified, pseudonymous, or anonymous. Attendees must not share invitation credentials, record or redistribute confidential material, evade event restrictions, or misrepresent their identity. An organizer may end, lock, or revoke access to an event. Once a feedback study receives a response, its identity mode cannot be changed to reveal more information.
9. Intellectual Property
Except for user content and third-party materials, SINK's software, design, branding, and original content are owned by the operator or its licensors. These Terms do not grant permission to copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or commercially exploit them except where applicable law allows.
10. Disclaimers and Liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” Sync accuracy, event data, compatibility, and uninterrupted operation are not guaranteed. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of the Service.
11. Changes and Contact
We may update these Terms and will post the revised date here. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. Questions may be sent to legal@sink.chat.
